The Lorikeet is a species of parrot that is commonly found along Australia's eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. Unusually, Lorikeets do not have any immediately discernible dimorphic traits, with both sexes having vibrant colours.

They have unique tongues that help them with their particular diet. Predominantly feeding on fruit, pollen and nectar. The end of their tongue is equipped with a papillate appendage adapted to gathering pollen and nectar from flowers.
